A group of eight Master of Social Work (MSW) interns successfully completed a 15-dayintensive internship program at the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project Office in Patan, operating under the Department of Women and Child Development (Mahila avam Bal Vikas Vibhag),Chhattisgarh.

The primary focus of this 15-day internship was to understand the ground-level implementation of rural maternal and child welfare schemes. The interns worked closely with Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and Supervisors to study the administrative structure and monitoring mechanisms of the ICDS network. They actively participated in field visits to various rural Anganwadi centers, where they evaluated daily operations, supplementary nutrition distribution, and pre-school educational activities.

Throughout the program, the interns conducted community health surveys and engaged with local mothers and pregnant women to assess awareness regarding malnutrition, immunization schedules, and infant care. They also assisted the department inorganizing community sensitization programs and tracking growth monitoring data for children under six. This field experience provided the eight interns with critical professional insights into rural social governance, public healthcare delivery, and the practical challenges of executing state-sponsored welfare programs.
