Two interns completed a 15-day internship at an old age home in Durg, Chhattisgarh, focusing on hands-on geriatric care and social support.
Over two weeks, the interns integrated into the facility's daily operations to support the elderly residents. They assisted nursing staff with routine health checks, monitored vital signs, and ensured adherence to dietary plans. Beyond physical care, a major focus was placed on mental wellness. The interns tackled resident isolation by hosting group recreational activities, leading low-impact physical exercises, and spending dedicated time in one-on-one conversations to offere motional comfort.
The program concluded with the interns documenting resident feedback and presenting practical recommendations to management to help improve the facility's daily care strategies. This experience allowed the interns to build vital professional skills in healthcare management and elderly psychology while directly improving the quality of life for the residents.
